Sustainability is fundamental to how the business operates, and we take into consideration the impacts the cradle to grave cycle of our product has on the environment.
A key objective of the Company is to be carbon neutral by 2030.
Mumford and Wood only source their timber from FSC® (Licence FSC-C110183) certified suppliers and has held its Chain of Custody (CoC) certification since February 2012.
We recycle our paper, cardboard packaging, and wood waste as much as possible, preventing 20% of waste from going to landfill each year.
We also donate our large timber offcuts to Riverside Timber Recycling Project. This project supports charities that use the wood to make objects, such as birdhouses, which are sold to help fund their activities. Any further offcuts of theirs are used for biofuel.
“Working with us ensures that your waste is reused in the most environmentally beneficial way and will help us to create jobs for local people, so no matter where you are, what industry you are in or how much wood waste you generate, we can help.”
Sawdust collected through our extraction is also collected for use as animal bedding.
As a business that uses and relies on a natural resource, we wanted to put something back. So, working with growers of indigenous forestry trees, we support a practical and proactive tree-planting programme with native broad leaf species, helping to preserve the UK's environment and biodiversity.
