Victorian Townhouse

Ten years ago, Mumford & Wood were specified for new windows to an extension added to this impressive 1854 Victorian townhouse in London. The home is owned by the Baker family who comment “we were originally attracted to the house because of the amount of natural light that fills the rooms”.

“Mumford & Wood were specified along with a building firm by the architect originally. Being introduced to Mumford & Wood was the best thing to come from that architect as we were disappointed with the builder’s work” Mr Baker comments.

In the present day, the family decided to update the rest of the house, undertaking a significant refurbishment project, including replacing the windows throughout, and there was only one manufacturer in the running. 

“There was no hesitation from us in returning to Mumford & Wood. The windows replaced 10 years ago continue to function perfectly and they look excellent. We knew that the rest of the house needed windows of this quality as well” Mr Baker explains. 

The remaining windows were replaced like-for-like, retaining the same style that the extension was given at the time of its construction. “We are greatly impressed with these windows. They look excellent and I can recognise the innovations and subtle changes that have served to further improve the products”. 

Traditional box sash windows installed throughout have improved the heat retention of the property, as well as eliminated movement and rattling that the original windows were subject to during periods of bad weather. 

“These new windows are gorgeous! Everything from Mumford & Wood including the aftercare was very efficient and I wish we had just replaced all of the windows during the first phase, 10 years ago.”
