Award-winning windows and doors by Mumford & Wood for 'Best Out of London Home'

Mumford & Wood has designed and manufactured beautiful windows and doors for Kylemore House on the Coombe Estate, Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. This is an exclusive 9,000 sq ft new-build house which has recently been awarded winner of the ‘Best Out of London Home’ and runner-up of the ‘Best Luxury Home’ at the 2014 Evening Standard New Homes Awards. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty Coombe Park is within 10 minutes of Wimbledon Village, the Common and Richmond Park.

Designed by Hoban Design, Kingston upon Thames (www.hobandesign.co.uk) for main contractor Epsom Builders, a family run business in Surrey, the property has been designed to achieve the highest levels of energy efficiency with an ‘A’ EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) Energy Rating and Code 4 Sustainable Homes. Mumford & Wood Conservation™ timber fenestration products are highly energy efficient and play their part in this overall achievement. Kylemore is one of only 0.01% of homes built to achieve this standard in England.

The main three-storey house is of classic Georgian design with many contemporary features and fine interior detailing. There are four main reception rooms, five very spacious double bedrooms and a fabulous master suite which includes a sitting room, dressing rooms and a sumptuous his-and-hers bathroom, and a self-contained guest apartment with private kitchen and bathroom. Kylemore’s kitchen was designed by David Linley and is beautifully appointed with solid wood cabinetry, polished granite work tops and flooring, and the very latest appliances. The house is flanked on both sides with adjoining contemporary styled structures that accommodate the gym and indoor pool, and a multi-purpose orangery and media room.

Light and space play a huge role in the success of this splendid home. In keeping with the architectural theme the principal rooms feature elegant Georgian-style sash windows and coordinating double French doorsets from Mumford & Wood’s Conservation™ range and the voluminous bedroom suites are adorned with French doorsets that lead directly onto private terraces and views of the magnificent grounds, play area and putting green.

Made in England from clear grade, sustainably sourced and engineered timber, Mumford & Wood design and manufacture bespoke sash and casement windows, French doorsets, special shapes, bi-fold and entrance doors to the exacting standards of the British Woodworking Federation’s Timber Window Accreditation Scheme. They are rated A+ in the BRE Green Guide to Specification with U-values that far exceed the requirements of current Part L Building Regulations.

These fully factory finished products are BSI Window Energy Rated, carry the BSI Kitemark of distinction, are Energy Saving Trust listed and many Conservation™ products meet PAS21 Secured by Design Accreditation. All products are now internally glazed for improved aesthetics and security.
