Georgian style new build

Case Studies
Georgian style new build

You could be forgiven for thinking that this beautifully proportioned, grand property has commanded this piece of the Hampshire countryside since the 1800s. It is, in fact, less than a couple of years old, lovingly built in an authentic Georgian style.

Finely crafted, elegant and authentic sash windows, along with a traditionally styled front door and toplight from Mumford & Wood are crucial elements in achieving a faithful, period appearance.

The home is owned by Mrs Vainewrite who comments “I viewed this project essentially as a self-build. I did not use an architect as we designed the concept of the house ourselves. We used a draughtsman to help us with the technical drawings and I arranged all of the purchasing and subcontractors myself”.

Mrs Vainewrite happened upon specifying Mumford & Wood purely by accident, after unfortunately being let down by a window supplier unable to fulfil the requirement. It all worked out for the better in the end however, as she sings the praises of the Mumford & Wood team, “luckily for us, your team were happy to immerse themselves in our project, sharing our vision for its finished look and were all wonderful from start to finish; nothing was too much trouble.”

The large sash windows and imposing entrance door mirror the design principles of the house and the symmetry of its façade, providing an authentic finish that we believe the Georgians would approve of.
