Historic box sash windows for Duke of York HQ
Mumford & Wood is the sole supplier of Conservation™ single glazed, historic box sash timber windows which were specified for the dramatic renovation of the main building of the Duke of York HQ, Chelsea. It is now home to the Saatchi Gallery.
Existing glazing bars to ground and upper floors ranged from 15-17mm although approval was given by planners for a consistent and slender 17mm glazing bar throughout, this being a non-standard size for us. A combination of 90 bespoke semi-circular and square top windows have been designed and manufactured in our Essex facility including a fire resistant alternative for the lift shaft.
A full site survey of the main building was undertaken two years prior to delivery, which commenced over a staged period from March 2007. All were traditional putty glazed.
