Share a vision with Mumford & Wood
Mumford & Wood have supplied products from their extensive Contemporary™ range for a unique property renovation in Totnes, Devon.
Originally constructed in the 1950’s in modernist design this bungalow-style property looks down towards one of Devon’s oldest historic towns with rear-facing views across Dartmoor.
The open-plan layout of the single storey main living area embraces many attractive features with solid timber floors and interesting levels to create imaginary ‘room’ boundaries. To every aspect are large Contemporary™ timber windows which were designed by Mumford & Wood to complement three original windows to the side aspect which have been successfully renovated and restored by local craftsmen, despite their 50-year age. Sliding, bi-fold doors occupy the front elevation and open up the full width of the lounge, effectively extending the living area directly onto the front patio.
The rooms to the rear are set in two storeys and are linked to the original structure by a solid wooden staircase, itself naturally lit with the help of large Contemporary™ fixed glazed panels with composite casements.
The windows and doors were made to order and have double glazed argon filled units and are fully factory finished. Made from premium laminated timber, these windows were factory painted from a wide selection of RAL colours. Other finishing options are available. These high performance windows achieve U-values which surpass the requirements of current Part L Building Regulations.
“There were no planning objections and although a number of design options were amended, the windows were never an issue and we’re very pleased we took our architects advice,” say the happy home owners
