Replacement double glazed windows for Grade II listed property

Mumford & Wood’s award-winning, double glazed, Conservation™ box sash windows have been specified in the refurbishment of a Grade II listed property in Portsmouth.

Mumford & Wood, the Essex-based sash window specialist, produced these windows incorporating a 17mm fine lambs tongue glazing bar which enables the inclusion of double glazed units while still maintaining the elegant and traditional sightlines of a single glazed product.  These windows are BSI ‘A – C’ energy rated, depending on specification, with an overall frame U-value of ¼ W/m².K, and exceed current Part L Building Regulations.

This fine building was designed by architect Thomas Ellis Owen (1805 - 1862) and was constructed in 1845/6.  He was responsible for many of the beautiful buildings that still exist in Southport and Gosport and has become known as the ‘Shaper of Portsmouth’.
