Expert restoration developer chooses Mumford & Wood
Premium quality Conservation™ timber sash windows and doors have been specified by a major national developer in the sensitive restoration of Lawton Hall, Cheshire.
Restoration of the 17th century Grade II building near Alsager began early this decade. The Hall had been a family home for centuries and more latterly a private school. The building was abandoned during the 1990’s and fell victim to vandalism and fire.
Now a gated, private residential community, Lawton Hall has nine fine apartments and 30 new and luxurious detached houses and mews residences situated throughout the estate.
Demolition of all but the front façade was essential and many important and ornate features of the Hall were saved in what is said to have been a hiding place for Charles II in the 1600’s during the English Civil War.
Mumford & Wood were able to offer the single glazed Conservation™ historic box sash for the restoration of the original Hall and double glazed ConservationTM box sashes for the new properties which achieved the same traditional sightlines. Around 500 period windows and doors were produced over a 14 month delivery schedule for this project. The Conservation™ range offers high performance features whilst retaining the appearance and classic feature lines of the original sashes and doors.
