Energy efficient Conservation™ sliding sashes for period renovation
Replacement sliding sash windows and French doorsets, by Mumford & Wood, have been specified for a private property renovation situated in the historic town of Bakewell, in the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire.
With stunning views of Chatsworth House the substantial stone property, said to date back to the late 1800’s, required substantial renovation. Working closely with local architects and employing the skills and services of regional craftsmen, the property has been sympathetically returned to its former glory after a one-year build programme. It is now as strong and robust externally as it is internally with beautiful timber floors, open fire places, spacious high-ceilinged bedrooms and breathtaking views.
Sash windows from the Conservation™ box sash range were made to measure with traditional cords, sash weights and heavy brass pulley wheels suited to the rebated reveals of the original window openings. In the new kitchen extension the heavy duty pre-tensioned spiral spring balances were more appropriate for the flush reveal openings while at the same time achieving the same external aesthetics and historical sightlines.
We also produce a single glazed historic box sash for areas in which planning restrictions prohibit the use of double glazed products.
