Conservation™ windows for historic Borough of Southwark
In the renovation of a substantial property in London SE1, in the historic Borough of Southwark, Mumford & Wood’s Conservation™ casement and sliding sash windows have been specified at one of the last remaining plots awaiting development by morelondon.
Situated in a conservation area only minutes from Tower Bridge, The Terrace, on the corner of Tooley Street, appears to be conjoined with a contemporary structure more in keeping with the new commercial spaces of morelondon’s development strategy.
High performance timber windows supplied for the skilful renovation of The Terrace replaced single glazed originals. Considerable adaptation to achieve fine and elegant sight lines by Mumford & Wood was of significant importance and a key element of the brief from Hawkins/Brown Architects, London
Replicas of the original products working with casements of ascending size together with fixed windows set within stone mullions made this a complex project. Another adjacent section of The Terrace has replacement Conservation™ sliding sash windows also manufactured by Mumford & Wood. The building is a combination of renovation and new build with retained, refurbished and new facades.
Products are made to order on state-of-the-art machinery incorporating many desirable and technical attributes while preserving inbuilt historic designs. They carry the BSI Kitemark and Energy Saving Trust approvals and the British police endorsed Secured by Design accreditation.
