On a beautiful tropical island inhabited by the seriously rich and famous, sash window specialists, Mumford & Wood, have supplied Conservation™ box sash windows, French doorsets and other complementary products for an outstanding colonial style property.
Occupying a unique position on a small private island linked to the mainland by a causeway, the property has over 100 windows and French doorsets which provide a 360 degree view of the surrounding seas. The area has particularly high humidity with a salt laden content, and no area of the island escapes the brutal sea winds and intensive year-round sun.
Local project architects briefed us to overcome this potentially hazardous combination of climatic conditions by refining existing timber products. Windows, doors, round windows and elliptical fanlights were required for this project, constructed from premium quality laminated hardwood rather than the top grade treated softwoods normally used by Mumford & Wood for European projects. A high-build three-coat white microporous paint finish was factory-applied. Factory finished glazing using laminated glass will reduce the harmful fading caused from UV sunrays.
Mumford & Wood supply products for export around the world, safe in the knowledge that their unique packaging and distribution methods will withstand long distances without damage.
“We believe it is essential that our clients feel secure in their homes wherever they are located, particularly those in the midst of hurricane zones, and our products satisfy severe weather rating conditions which surpass current Building Regulations,” says Chris Wood.
