THE CONSERVATION™ TIMBER FAÇADE SOLUTION FOR KOHO COFFEE

THE CONSERVATION™ TIMBER FAÇADE SOLUTION FOR KOHO COFFEE

Firstly let us say how delighted we are that fabulous Conservation™ timber windows and doors have been designed into the façade remodelling of a neighbourhood high street gallery which is now the successful, independently owned KoHo Coffee. Situated on Nightingales Corner in the beautiful village of Little Chalfont, Buckinghamshire, the property was developed by Richard Anthony Developments, Beaconsfield. KoHo Coffee has very quickly introduced a fun, rich, dark and very smooth atmosphere to this 20th Century village and is definitely the place to sit back and savour lunches, brunches and sweet tasting treats. You really should try it.

Coordinated Conservation™ timber panelling

In fact the property was previously a glass fronted art gallery and the roadside frontage has now been completely redesigned with wide, double glazed, 6 over 6 sliding, made-to-order, timber sash windows while a recessed, half glazed, double Conservation™ entrance door is complete with an overhead fanlight. We designed and manufactured traditional and coordinated timber panelling to complete this elegant façade which makes a real eye-catching contribution to the streetscape of this pretty location close to the sites and cosmopolitan bustle of Amersham. Replacement Conservation™ sash windows in a bay configuration have also been specified to the first floor windows of a separate apartment. This has been converted to a commercial office and is accessed via its own private entrance door adjacent to KoHo.
“We worked very closely with the developer, Richard Anthony, a long standing client, to achieve his vision for KoHo’s frontage and what we delivered is a far cry from the original design,” says Tom Barfield, regional sales director, Mumford & Wood. “This primarily consisted of open-in bi-folding doors which wouldn’t have given the same cosy appearance and atmosphere KoHo has now. We deliberated on the door position and other major elements of the design until we had it just right.
Setting the Conservation™ façade solution trend
“The Conservation™ frontage design has become popular since a similar design was introduced a few years ago for Café Colbert in London’s upmarket Sloan Square,” continues Barfield, “and more recently for Artist Residence in Pimlico Village. This hotel restaurant has recently picked up the London Hotel of the Year 2016 award and we are very proud to have been associated with its shabby chic appeal. And now we have the funky KoHo Coffee so I think we are setting a trend here.”
Founder Sami, who manages KoHo, says: “The look and feel of KoHo has raised the bar in Little Chalfont, enhancing the area with a sophisticated façade – our partnership with Mumford & Wood has again been a great success.”

On-trend dual-colour paint finish

Windows, doors and panelling for KoHo were finished in RAL 7024 Graphite Grey externally. The dual colour paint, or stain, option in RAL 9003 Signal White was chosen internally to add light and spaciousness. Mumford & Wood use only high quality, spray-applied, micro-porous finishes that provide durable, low maintenance protection.
