Kent

Historic Oast House renovation

This beautiful Kent Oast House was originally designed to dry hops as part of the beer brewing process. Today, it has been converted into a beautiful family home using traditional timber casement windows, entrance door and french doors. Using timber as a material for the windows and doors has been a great choice for this project, using traditional joinery methods, complimenting it’s long history and past.

For this project the owners chose simple casement windows from our Conservation Range, offering a flush-line appearance which are perfect for traditional refurbishment projects.

For curved buildings, some clients might opt for curved on plan units, where the frame and glazing are both curved. However, there are some tricks for making your windows appear curved and using just a curved cill can create the illusion of a round unit, for less cost.

This client decided to opt for a traditional Ovolo frame profile and no glazing bars, making the most of the light and view, matching the original design. All products were finished in our popular Anthracite Grey.

Our ironmongery ranges have been selected on quality, design, security and longevity. This client opted for a Croft Floe Elegance handle, Croft Ring Knocker and Coastal letterplate, all finished in Brushed Chrome.

Essex

New family home in the countryside

Based in the Essex countryside and with sustainability considerations being an important part of the build, Ed and his family wanted to source products that would complement their 'Eco' vision. Being a carbon neutral and Made in Britain manufacturer and using natural timber materials for all products, Ed thought that Mumford & Wood would be the perfect fit for their project.

Traditional timber sash windows and timber french doors helped them to achieve them the classic, natural aesthetic they were looking for whilst achieving the thermal and acoustic performance that was so important for their new build family home.

They also chose an elegant, hand-made timber entrance door featuring fully glazed sidelights, ensuring their hallway was always flooded with light.

" My parents had Mumford & Wood windows fitted nearly 20 years ago and they look as good today as they did when new. This influenced our decision to also purchase our windows and doors from Mumford & Wood, as we had witnessed first hand the great quality and finish that can be achieved when using the right manufacturer. We couldn't recommend them enough. "
