Feature Windows for Period Loft Conversions
*
Mumford & Wood Ltd., specialist manufacturers of fine timber windows and doors in period designs, make bespoke, factory finished and double glazed windows for refurbishment, renovation and new build projects.

Ideal for extension work, including loft conversions and basements that frequently necessitate special shapes and non-standard sizes, Mumford & Wood will design and manufacture windows to suit limited roof space for gable ends and dormers to any size and specification to ensure maximum light benefits the room.

“As attics, lofts and above-garage spaces are being converted into real living space for home offices, play rooms, home cinemas or simply an extra bedroom,” says Chris Wood, Managing Director, Mumford & Wood, “our feature windows have become very popular in recent years. Of course in a period property it is essential to match the existing fenestration to ensure, aesthetically, a ‘seamless join’ which is where our expertise comes in.” Mumford & Wood has the capacity, the manufacturing technology and the skills to produce features windows – such as bullseyes and triangles – however difficult the location, in exactly the same finish as the existing windows.

External View As attic space in older buildings may not be as well insulated as the main shell of the property, high performance energy rated windows will have a big part to play in achieving a comfortable and warm room. Mumford & Wood can make windows with energy ratings of C and upwards dependent on size and specification. They can be made with a choice of glazing options, including acoustic glass, which will make a substantial impact on reduction of noise into the room from road, rail, ‘planes and leisure activities.

“With more and more home owners concerned about the correct style, the environment and their heating bills, timber windows provide the perfect solution,” says Chris Wood. “More and more of our sales are now coming from people ripping out poor quality uPVC windows and adding value to their property by incorporating quality timber windows. We can advise on the correct dimensions for escape aperture and other legal requirements needed to comply with Building Regulations.”

Mumford & Wood’s windows are supplied factory finished and are made from high grade, engineered and laminated Larch from sustainable sources.
