Mumford & Wood have introduced the standard use of slow grown laminated Douglas Fir-Larch to their premium quality windows and doors. In combination with a hardwood cill this improved specification provides superior stability, durability and a knot free surface. These materials have proven natural resilience, their life expectancy is 60 years without the necessity for chemical preservative treatment. This performance is twice that of the standard chemical treatment of European Redwood, generally referred to as softwood.
Douglas Fir-Larch; since similar performance properties make these species interchangeable in use, Douglas Fir and larch are often marketed together.
